Mother’s Day 2020

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who have children, both human and animal ones. I hope that you get to see your family today and celebrate, even if it’s just by FaceTime. That’s how I celebrated Mother’s Day today with my daughter and grandkids, but last year we all got together on Vancouver Island to celebrate. This is one of my favorite pictures from that trip. There’s nothing like seeing your child become a parent themselves.

And to those of you who, like me, have lost our mothers and grandmothers, I have a feeling that they are all sitting together in heaven right now, cheering us on as we keep our families safe during this pandemic. We are their legacy, and we carry the genes of all the other strong women who have gone before us. Mothers have great coping skills, and they are certainly being tested right now. Keep the faith, and stay safe and sane, and we’ll get through this crazy time together.

When we do get out the other side, let’s never forget the lessons we‘ve been learning lately. Spending quality time together was becoming a lost art. We were immersed in busy lives and schedules, even our kids. I for one don’t want to go back to that. Turning off devices and just spending time, one on one, is the greatest blessing we can share with each other. That’s my wish for all of us this Mother’s Day and every day going forward. ❤️

–EDIT—
Mother’s Day Update: I have to share this with you. Here I was feeling very sorry for myself that I couldn’t actually go see Jess and my grandkids for Mother’s Day this year because of distancing. But all of a sudden I looked out my window and saw their car parked out front, and I go what?!!! I raced out my front door and saw that they had just made the most beautiful gift I ever received, using chalk to paint “Love messages to Mimi” on my sidewalk. I cried. Best Mother’s Day gift ever. Thank you Jessica Sue! I am so blessed to be your mother. And thank you for making me a Mimi.🙏❤️
