September 11, 2001. We will never forget the horrors of that day when America was attacked. But let us also never forget to remember and be inspired by the Heroes, both 2-legged and 4-legged, who rushed in to help rescue and save others, at great personal cost to themselves.
We owe them so much, and now must fully support them and their families as they continue to deal with the emotional and physical ramifications of their choices. “Thank you” is not enough. They need us to be their heroes now, in money and health care from a grateful nation.
Most of us will have very few times in our lives when we face an epic “Hero Test”. But it will happen, in both big and small ways. The big events… hurricanes, wars, emergencies… are sometimes easier to identify and rise up for.
But the little daily ones are often more important. The decision to stand up for someone who is being bullied or discriminated against. To speak up for an unpopular cause because in your heart you know it is the right thing to do. To not turn away when you see someone in need, but instead choose to take a kind action and show them that they matter. You may never see the full result of your kindness, but you will definitely be changing lives and it will keep being paid forward in a ripple effect exponentially.
So, thank you to the Heroes of 9/11 for more than just your service. We will never forget you and what you did. May your courage make us all a little braver in our own lives, so that when and if we are needed, we too will choose to make a difference. 🇺🇸 ❤️
PS – Thank you to my dear friend and Veteran Dan Lauria for being at Ground Zero every day, helping in the rescue efforts. You are a hero in so many ways and I honor and adore you. xo
