This is such a beautifully written post by my dear friend Pam Slay. On this day twenty years ago Matthew Shepard was murdered simply for being gay. Today he came home to rest. I am sorry Matthew that we did not protect you better. Who knows what our nation lost when your life and potential were cut so short.
We have come so far in this country since then, yet the gains we’ve made are extremely fragile. We must stay vigilant and never let it happen again!
Please vow to speak up for those whose voices are in danger of being silenced or taken away. Because each time one person or group is marginalized, it becomes easier for bullies to marginalize another one. You and your family, your race, your religion, your sexual orientation, your gender, your very freedom could be next on the chopping block. Transgendered people and LGBTQ are in danger of losing hard fought rights right now. We can’t let that happen!
Please join me and promise to stand up to bullies, and to love and protect those who need our help. Do it for Matthew. Lead with Love. ❤️
