On this day of remembering and honoring those who sacrificed so much during one of the worst times in our history, may we also remember and honor what America stands for.
When we Americans stand together, united in love, respect and equality for each one of our citizens… embracing and celebrating our beautiful differences and diversity… offering kindness and compassion to all who are in need here and abroad… we are celebrating and fulfilling the dreams of our founding fathers.
This is the extraordinary America we grew up with, full of hope and dreams and possibilities. It is still there, it always has been.
My wish today for all of us is to honor that concept by taking time to reach out and commit a random act of kindness to someone. Then ask them to pay it forward. It doesn’t have to be big, just something from your heart to theirs. Talk to your neighbor. Smile at someone who looks different from you. Make a phone call to someone who needs to hear your voice. Choose to say something kind.
