A real SUPERWOMAN

This is what a true Superwoman looks like. I saw her on the news today, a Mother who would do anything to give her children a better life. Her kids were being threatened with gang violence and death threats and so her life in Honduras was scarier than the uncertainty of her leaving everything she knew. Imagine it being so bad where you live that your best option was taking the gamble of embarking on this long, arduous, terrifying journey. She held out America as a beacon of hope and started the long trek with her kids, including a toddler. They had nothing but a dream.

I would do the same thing, do anything I had to do to save my child, and I believe you would too. But instead of celebrating her and offering her help, the door to our country is slammed in her face. She is sitting on the border right now with nothing to her name – weighing her options. Does she keep trying for asylum and keep being told there is no room? (Parallels of Jesus and Mary being told there is no room at the inn.) Or does she make a run for it trying to get over the border with her babies? And if she gets caught her kids are taken away. Oh… but I forgot… they will be taken away anyway which ever she decides.

The administration is stacking the deck against her and others fleeing violence in the hopes that they will do something illegal instead of legally applying for asylum – which they have made almost impossible to get or even apply for. This Mother has been waiting, but her options are almost over. She cannot go back to Honduras and certain violence, yet we are not letting her proceed even legally either. What would you do to save your children? How much would you risk? I know that I would die, literally, for mine. And be glad to do it.

I am so outraged and horrified at what our country is doing to these people and families. This is not who we are and not what America stands for. Enough is enough. Those who support this have a black mark on their souls and will have to answer to God. Meanwhile, we need to do everything we can to help these people.

I just heard that babies are being put in concentration camps called “tender age centers”. The press is not even allowed in any of these centers to take photos. The only photos that are provided are by the government. What are they hiding? And why can’t we see it? How much worse could it possibly be? And, because this new Trump “zero tolerance” policy was implemented so hurriedly, without planning or coordination, many of these “tender age” children and babies (many in diapers and being breastfed!!!) will get lost in the system and never be reunited with their parents. Can you imagine what that must feel like? Having your baby sobbing as it is taken away from you without you being able to comfort it. Not knowing if you will ever see your child again? Let that sink in, because there but for the grace of God go any of us.

I am crying as I write this. I am so ashamed to be an American right now. And if you still believe the propaganda that is being fed to you, please do me a favor and start watching international news sources and not just FOX News. BBC, Canada, etc. Get a global view point and see how we are being viewed by the rest of the world. In fact, today we even withdrew from the United Nations Human Rights group. Unbelievable that we have now gotten to this place.

There have been growing atrocities throughout this administration and I have tried to keep political leanings out of my Facebook and social media feeds. But I can no longer stay silent. Bad things have happened throughout history because good people chose to be silent. I cannot have that on my conscience anymore. If you do not like what I write, please quit following me. If you do, let’s get motivated, get out of shock and paralysis, and do the right thing again. Bullies are much louder than pacifists, but it is time now to get loud.

Please take action and do everything you can to stop this. Call your elected officials. March. VOTE! Do not stop until we regain our democracy and the values that this country has always stood for. Each one of us had immigrant forefathers and foremothers who entered this country with nothing. Many landed at the foot of the Statue of Liberty which has always represented hope and the American dream. If we do not stand up for the least among us, our souls are already lost. That is what the Bible says in so many different ways. Instead Sessions and this administration are quoting biblical “law” passages. What do you think Jesus would do?

Tonight I am far away from my daughter and grandchildren. But I do know that I will see them again. It breaks my heart to know that there are many parents sitting in camps and jails in this country tonight because of what we are allowing to happen. They do not know if and when they will ever see their loved ones again. This is not right. I am mad as hell and I hope you are too. NOTE: This is not about Politics. It is about Humanity and basic human decency. It is up to each of us to #BeTheChange. Please step up to be the #Superwoman and #Superhero you are! Start getting loud now!
