Don’t regret your past. Change your future.

“In this photo I imagine this is my Chesapeake Shores character Megan O’Brien standing alone in her New York apartment. She’s thinking about her past and the young woman she used to be who was full of love and hopes and dreams. But now, guilt and regret for her part in a failed marriage and the heart breaking loss of her children have burnt holes in her soul. For the millionth time she wishes she could somehow have a “”do-over””. A way to go back in time and make different choices.

I like to think she’s on the verge of an “”Aha”” moment here. It is gradually dawning on her… maybe it IS that simple. Why not swallow her pride and simply go back home and try again?

It takes a lot of courage to admit you made a mistake, and then to change it. But how much worse would it be to forever live with the consequences, wondering “what if”?

Nothing is ever written in stone, and nothing has to be forever. There is no choice or circumstance that we can’t try to outcreate, correct or heal. In fact, every moment we have an opportunity to start over and make a new choice. That is so liberating!

Do a soul search right now. Is there something that needs changing in your life? What do you want your future to look like? Who do you want to be, and who do you want to be with? Where in your life does healing need to take place?

Forgive yourself, forgive them, move on. Stop making it complicated. Make this the moment you take your power back and go toward the people you love and the person you wish to be.

Thank you, Megan O’Brien for empowering so many of us. For showing there is no shame in swallowing your pride and saying “I’m sorry.” For teaching us that in the end nothing matters more than family. For hanging in there even when it is hard, hoping that love will win out in the end. I do believe it will.

Thank you Sherryl Woods and Hallmark Channel USA for creating this amazing series that I am proud to be part of. And thank you #Chessies for inspiring me and for sharing our journey. See you Sunday night on Twitter!

Love,
