Liberty and justice for all.

I am numb and in shock and ashamed as I watch this racism and terrorism play out, not knowing how I can help bring sanity back to this country. But we cannot be shocked into silence. We have to be louder than ever now and going forward, so that love and unity are stronger than hate and violence.

I have a message to all the white supremacists and nationalists who think that their skin color makes them better and gives them privilege. Your hateful racist actions and words prove how small and twisted you are. You are vile domestic terrorists. You do not speak for me and you make me ashamed.

I hereby call you out and pledge to do everything in my power to stop you and stand with my brothers and sisters of all races, religions, genders, colors and any thing else you may decide you hate. I speak out for unity, equality, liberty and justice for all.

“Liberty and justice for all.” Those used to be just words, but now they stand for so much that is precious about America. Maybe it is true what they say, that you don’t realize what you have until you lose it.

I hope and pray that it is not too late, that we have not yet reached a tipping point. That there are enough rational, loving, kind people who are willing to speak out with me and stand up for what is right.

Who would have ever thought that we would hear Nazi slogans in our streets? That we would watch KKK members hold flaming torches as they march openly in America! It is unthinkable! Yet it is happening. And it is growing.

History has already proven that evil happens when good people stand by and do nothing. It must stop here. It must stop now. Please join me in condemning racism and bigotry, and stand up for what is right. Enough is enough.

” . . .somewhere in that crowd of sweaty, dead-eyed, raw throated white men – are our brothers and cousins and husbands and fathers and children; those we go to church with and see at Little League and in our neighborhoods. They need to be made accountable by those they deem their “own kind.”They need to know that this is not who we are, that we don’t bless or support or respect this. They need white faces speaking directly into their white faces, loudly on behalf of love.”
