“You are not equal. I’m Sorry.” This beautiful essay by Dina Leygerman says it all. This is why we marched, why it mattered, and why we will do it again. Not only for our rights as women, but to defend the human rights of all the people in this country and across this planet.
That is what women have always done for each other, for those they love, and for those they need to protect. And God bless the good men who have always stood beside us to help.
I saw this article posted yesterday and the facts caught me off guard. I guess I just assumed that the United States would be leading the way in equal rights statistics for women. In reality, we are way down the global list. Read it and you may be as surprised as I am.
Seeing how far we’ve come but also how far we still have to go is a reality check. We have work to do and we must be ready to fight.
This is a crucial point in history. There is a very real danger and fear that we are already starting to go backwards. We cannot let that happen. It is on our watch now.
Heroes for women’s rights, civil rights, LGBTQ rights and many more fought hard to get us here. They have passed the baton to us. Their strength is our strength, and it will be passed on to our children and grandchildren by the examples we are showing them.
I am proud to march beside each one of you as we fight for equal human rights for each and every one of us. If one person gets left behind, we all lose.
