What’s on YOUR Bucket List? And when are you going to get started? Let this man’s story inspire you. It reminds me of when I took my first step towards an acting career, over half my life ago now. I was 30 years old, a newly-divorced single mother, living in Portland, Oregon. I had no income, no child support, and no clue how I was going to support us. But I knew in my heart that, as illogical as it was, I had to at least TRY acting so I didn’t have to wonder “what if” someday. Choosing to say YES and leap into that dream despite all the odds stacked against me changed the course of my life. Today all these years later, acting still gives me goose bumps! And truth be told, even if I couldn’t make money at it, I’d pay someone to let me do it.
That’s what I wish for you too, to plug into your passion and find joy in impractical, arbitrary, wonderful things that maybe make no sense, but that you giggle inside because you get to do them.
So… do you have something you’ve been putting off? Something your spirit keeps nudging you to try, but for whatever reason you’ve been too practical to go for? You’re not getting any younger! Dreams do not die as we age. The kid you used to be still wants to see how high you can fly! Don’t wait until the end of your life to think about your Bucket List. As my friend Diamond Caprice Allen says in her book, “BUCK-ET, Just Do It!”
It’s time to start dancing. xo
