From the heart, that's Barbara Niven of Show Business 101. She's the
actress, director, the coach, the speaker and by far the only person you
should use if you want the best content for promotional videos. I was
terrified of having bad content on the internet, having my face being
just another marketing "ploy" to bring in business because that's not
me. I didn't do this to build my business but to heal people and get my
message out there and I didn't want to be another clever commercial
looking to sell.
I was
ready to bolt from the chair for the first 45 minutes. It was
painful, I didn't think I could do this. I'm not a speaker, I'm not an
actress - this is NOT my talent. I thought "Oh God, please let me
get through this & maybe get one good clip." And then Barbara took
the camera aside, put the lights aside, made me laugh and said "Look
into my face and talk to me as if you were just telling me about you and
your message." She held my hand and I spoke to her. She put the
camera back on, adjusted the lights, the angles, the camera (every which
way to make sure I looked like a star on camera -- this was amazing how
much time she took to make sure the light hit my face just right and if
I moved she'd start over it had to be perfect by her standards which are
on a scale of 1-10 a 20!) and when it was just right she said "Now
laugh, be you and talk." Then something clicked. I don't know what it
was or how she did it but she brought me out. It made all the
lights and the cameras disappear for that brief moment and MAGIC came
out and I had this amazing video that just spoke from my heart, exactly
what I wanted to reach the people who need me. Before I knew it I had 6
amazing clips, they were great all perfect.
Barbara Niven is truly the best there is. She is from the heart and she
brings out your heart on camera. If you want truly good content, the
best of you on film, if you want to look like a star, then go to a star.
Barbara knows all the tricks of the trade. How could she not? She
brings all her expertise as an actress and as a speaker. She knows how
to make you look good, how to make you sound good and best of all she
knows how to put it all together and get you to just be you. Build your
business - you need video to survive today and get your message out
among the masses. This is the only person I would ever go to and the
first person I would go to, to learn how to be on tape and how to be you
in front of that camera. Visit Barbara Niven of Show Business 101, and
learn to be a star and transform your business with your own personal
message from the heart!

Barbara is an expert in getting our sound bites, getting our video and
getting our word out to the world. Even if you’re a little nervous in
front of the camera, she’s the lady to see. She shot my videos and I had
a ball! I was so at ease in front of the camera and I’ve never been that
way before. I highly recommend her and I’m thrilled she’s part of our
Premiere Mentorship Program.

I was looking to overcome my fear of speaking in front of a camera as
it was limiting my potential to reach out and deliver my message. In
order to be successful we must surround ourselves with the experts,
study them, model them, emulate them. When it comes to performing Barbra
Niven is that person. Barbara is the best in her field as she is a true
professional and knows her business from every aspect of the production,
start to finish, edits to re-shoots, voice, video lighting, production,
directing, guiding and coaching. I was amazed of how she made the
process so easy and made me feel comfortable in the studio. Barbara’s
number one gift is that she can bring out yours! I highly recommend
anyone that is looking to step out of their box and launch their career
to new heights and possibilities you go to the best. Barbara you’re the
best and my brightest star in Hollywood! With sincere heartfelt thanks &
appreciation,

It was such an amazing
experience to work with you the other day, Barbara. I just wanted to let
you know that the process really gave me insights on how I show up in
the world. Watching myself on the monitor and seeing the difference of
expression and vitality in me as I was more myself was actually quite
cathartic, it was such a breakthrough that after our session I was able
to get back in touch with the Italian in me and bring her out more
often. It certainly was a learning lesson and I appreciate you
"literally" holding my hand through it.

We now live in a world where video is commonplace. From video email and
YouTube to individual and corporate presentations. If you are like me,
the first time I viewed my own video performance I was horrified. "Can I
really be that bad?" I even said to myself, "I need help." Then I was
introduced to Barbara Niven. An appointment was made to do some camera
training and it was one of the best experiences of my life. It was fun
and comfortable. I enjoyed every step of the learning process. Barbara
made the process enjoyable because she really cares about you. I find
myself practicing the skills she taught nearly every day because they
also transfer over to public speaking, presenting, and general
communication. Thank you Barbara!

Wow!
Talk about results! I consider myself to be a fairly polished speaker
and presenter, so my motive for working with Barb was not to work on
speaking ability; rather I needed to polish my on-camera skills. Between
her workshop and her one-on-one coaching skills, she coaxed some
fabulous footage out of me. I am usually pretty self-critical of my own
work, but this was great stuff, if I do say so myself! Her experience
with the medium and her expert guidance gave me quite a few tips and
techniques that made my on-camera persona shine and come through. I have
always been a bit frustrated before, but I now have the skills and
confidence to shine. Thanks Barb!

I just
have to report to you that I have been having some time conflicts
interfering with my softball playing. However, today I played my
first game since seeing you Barbara. I applied some of the
techniques you talked about that help people perform to their potential.
We played against a team that constantly beats us by a large margin.
I had my best hitting game in years and played flawlessly in the field
and we knocked them out of the playoffs. Final score- our team-23,
their team 9. David slew Goliath and even though it is a team
sport and my teammates played well, I definitely played a large part in
the success. I was totally in the moment, relaxed, aggressive, and
had a great time. The skills you teach Barbara, clearly can extend
beyond in front of the camera. Not only did you help me do well in
front of the camera, but you helped me with a glove or bat in my hand.

Barbara was so easy to work with. She made the camera “disappear” and
was able to bring out the best of me. She made the process fun and easy.
I am so pleased with the final product!

Just looking over my videos that Barbara shot. They came out great!
On my way to her studio I was thinking about making a U turn and finding
any dentist that could remove a molar that was just fine because the
thought of being filmed was just too painful a thought. The results were
incredible. Barbara is a super lady and the person that will make your
all important business video just right.

TESTIMONIALS from past
workshops:
What a transformational weekend that was for me, personally and
professionally! Your instruction and feedback met me exactly where I was
before as a speaker (hiding behind my boring Power Point presentation)
to being comfortable and authentic with my audience, trusting that the
right words and presence will come forth to make it a rich and
meaningful experience for them. And I can have fun, too! With deep
appreciation,
Melinda Dewey, Speaker
Prior to taking the class, I was stuck in terms of how I
would best present my message. After three days in their workshop, I am
now bursting with ideas and confidence. They are the experts in
marketing, storytelling, and knowing how to ignite your audience and
have fun. I highly recommend this class to anyone who needs public
speaking to promote their business.

Barbara and Jack gave me the tools and techniques I needed to prepare
properly for the spotlight events that any musician will face at one
time or another. Whether it's your very first interview with a local
newspaper, telling a compelling story between songs, your acceptance
speech at the Grammys or your chat with David Letterman on the tonight
show. ;) Don't leave your career up to chance, be prepared.

This weekend was an incredible experience for me on many levels. You are
offering something that we all need, regardless where we are in our
lives. You are Entertaining, Educating and Engaging. You are doing what
you are preaching, and doing it more than anyone I ever saw! I don't
attend workshops because most of the time I leave with an anxiety, empty
handed, bored and acting out. I even blame myself, why am I so difficult
to be pleased? Not this time!!! Please do it again, I have some people
are interested! Thanks again,

and respect you so much! You saved my life and I know you will help so
many more people!! Eating disorders are terrible, terrible diseases
where you feel so alone, you are showing people that they are not alone
and you are a walking example of how much better life is without the
eating disorder. Thanks again for everything you do!

Thank you very much for your
excellent presentation to the employees at the UAW-GM Center for Human
Resources and the UAW- GM Work / Family Representatives on "Eating
Disorders and the Pressures to be Perfect." I am certain that I can
speak for both groups, when I say that seldom have we heard a topic
presented so clearly and with so much passion. Several individuals
approached me after the assembly and asked where they could find
assistance for a family member or a friend who had been trying to cope
with their disorder without professional involvement. Sharing your
struggles and encouraging them to get control of their lives or to help
others do so, had emboldened them to seek professional assistance. Your
presentation made it clear that Eating Disorders were not limited to
age, sex, color, religion or social class within our society, but it can
be controlled with professional assistance. Today, you truly made a
difference in the lives of those present and we very much appreciated
your being able to join us. Sincerely,
Rick McKiddy, Assistant Director, United Auto Works International Union
Thank you for your presentation to
our students at South Lake High School on the “Pressures to be
Perfect.” Your message reached students’ life experiences and provided
hope & strength to those who needed it. For others, it was an
opportunity to learn how serious the disease of Eating Disorders can be.
The students connected to you and were empowered with knowledge &
self-understanding. Thank you for your commitment to help others just as
you were helped. This is the true meaning of “giving back.” With Deep
Appreciation,
Gayle S. Merkle, MA, School Counselor
Thanks Barbara. I viewed your
video on your eating disorder. I was so moved. Thank God there are
people like you out there who are leaders and role models. Both of my
daughters had eating disorders. My youngest daughter Marisa had severe
anorexia nervosa and was at a rehab center for 4 months. My eldest
daughter had a bout of bulimia for a year. You really touched me because
you are so real. God bless you.

WOW! I never heard it put quite so
eloquently! I have struggled with the shame of eating problems all my
life! I am now in critical health crisis because of it. Thank you
Barbara for shedding some light on a crippling disability!

Barbara - thank you so much for sharing
your painful experience. When you mentioned your daughter, you touched
my heart. My granddaughter (Helena) is now 13. 10 years ago we were out
to dinner at an Outback. She was 3 at the time. There were 6 or 7 of us
as the table and suddenly Helena said, "Nana, I don't feel good." For
some reason we went outside and she got sick. I tried not to watch
because I have a weak tummy, but anyway I saw her... and I said to her
"Helena, did you just put your fingers down your throat?" She said,
"Nana, that's what girls do" OMG - it was the most gut wrenching
feeling. I went inside, told everyone we were going back to the house
and that we would see them later. We got in the car and I said to her,
"Helena have I EVER yelled at you? She said No Nana...I said, "Promise
me you will never do that again. You need every ounce of nourishment you
can get!" Barbara, you are beautiful inside and out and I am so grateful
that you are around and sharing your story. I hope your daughter is
doing well too. My love to you...KEEP GOING...

Secrets are what keep you sick, because you think you are controlling
your problems successfully. I overeat and don't know why. I'm going to

Barbara taught me how to listen to and not give up on someone seeking

I learned about the panic that would trigger a need to purge. I will use
the poem with a client to see if they feel the same way.

I'm in my late forties, on the verge of peri-menopause, and I have
thought about using an eating disorder as a way of eliminating my
weight. Thank you for sharing your story. I will work on loving and
accepting myself.
